I am very proud and excited about the great progress our sales and marketing teams are making in penetrating and growing our sales of Zemea® in the personal care market. To-date there are over 300 products that have been launched globally using Zemea® and the list grows everyday. In this issue you will hear about new ester products made with Zemea®. I personally visited both Abitec Corp. and Phoenix Chemical during the past year and I am very excited about the potential growth of their new ester products utilizing Zemea®. Our business continues to expand the distribution network globally. During February we completed the appointment of Brenntag in the ASEAN region for the personal care market. In Milan, Italy, we will be exhibiting at In-Cosmetics, the world’s premier cosmetics show, held this year during late March. This show attracts personal care formulators, owners and executives from around the world. Denis Burlaud, our European Sales Manager located in Paris, will be presenting a technical paper during the Milan show. Essential Ingredients based in Atlanta will host a customer Discovery Zone in Florida during March and will feature Zemea®. Last, our customers are raving over the new study that Bob Miller completed on Zemea® for boosting preservative efficacy.

 Zemea® Potential for Boosting Preservative Efficacy
New research that was first presented at the SCC Annual Meeting in New York in December 2010 is detailed in this new technical bulletin. Market feedback suggested that Zemea® could boost the efficacy of preservatives in cosmetic and personal care formulations. A study was conducted using 7 different preservative systems at ½ the recommended use level in generic oil-in-water emulsion formulations with varying levels of Zemea®. Zemea® may allow the use of less preservatives in formulations while providing additional performance benefits such as no skin irritation, increased humectancy and excellent aesthetics.

 Abitec Corp. in Columbus, OH, USA, has launched two new esters produced from renewable resources of natural vegetable origin - Captex® 125 and Captex® 225. Captex® 125 (propanediol dicaprylate) and Captex® 225 (propanediol dicaprylate/dicaprate) are two new esters produced from renewable resources of natural vegetable origin. Both of these esters are water white, low viscosity, non-greasy oils which are especially suited for personal care applications as moisturizers, emollients, viscosity modifiers, coemulsifiers and solubilizers.

Phoenix Chemical, Somerville, NJ, USA has introduced several new natural esters - PELEMOL® P3D, PELEMOL® D3GP, PELEMOL® P-810 and PELEMOL® D5R-V.
Esters designed for glossy lipstick and color cosmetics include:
PELEMOL® P3D (Polypropanediol Dimer Dilinoleate) and PELEMOL® D3GP (Dimer Dilinoeyl Dimer Dilinoleate AND Propanediol Dicaprylate/Caprate AND Polyglyceryl-3 Behenate) are 100% vegetable polyesters ideally suited for lipsticks, lip balms and other lip products.

Ultra-light esters made with Zemea® propanediol include:
PELEMOL® P-810 (Propanediol Dicaprylate/Caprate) is the diester formed by the reaction of propanediol and caprylic/capric acids. It is a 100% active, easily pourable, clear, water-white, virtually odorless liquid. PELEMOL® P-810 is 100% vegetable derived and extremely dry.

PELEMOL® D5R-V (Propanediol Dicaprylate/Caprate AND Diisotearyl Malate) has been designed as an effective vegetable derived replacement for Cyclomethicone D5. It achieves the identical flow, spreadability, initial feel, softness and cushion on rub. The product has almost identical solubility characteristics and a higher refractive index, creating a more glossy appearance on the skin.

 Brenntag appointed distributor for Zemea® in ASEAN region
We have appointed Brenntag, to be our authorized distributor for Zemea® in the ASEAN region including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam. Brenntag is a large multinational ingredient supplier with a knowledgeable and experienced technical and sales staff covering the personal care market.

 Essential Ingredients is hosting a customer Discovery Zone in Ft. Lauderdale,
FL on March 8.
Our distributor partner, Essential Ingredients, is hosting a customer event on March 8, from 11am to 7pm at the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. DuPont Tate & Lyle will be presenting new information about Zemea®. Other suppliers who are represented by Essential Ingredients will also have exhibits available where you can learn about their ingredients. Lunch and other refreshments will be served.  DuPont Tate & Lyle hosting Innovation Seminar at In-Cosmetics, Milan, Italy
If you are attending In-Cosmetics this year in Milan, Italy, you won’t want to miss the Innovation Seminar sponsored by DuPont Tate & Lyle. Denis Burlaud, Account Executive for Europe, Middle East and Africa will be presenting the new technical study about the potential for Zemea® to boost preservative efficacy.
